Our group is growing
This morning I met Susan and my friend Jim for a run. We're starting to have a real group out here. Pretty soon we'll have to name it. Jim is just starting to run and to try to get used to getting up and out in the dark while everyone else is still asleep.
Here is this scoop on this mornings run. 1 mile WU, 14 min at tempo (supposed to be 15), 5 min recovery, 14:40 at tempo (supposed to 15), 10 min cool down. average HR 141, never over 154, during the interval down to 136.
My pacing needs some tweaking. After the warm up, I went out to fast. It felt good for the first 5 minutes. The next five were still Ok but I still had five minutes to go.
The last four were hard. I guess that's the point. The first mile at tempo pace was like 8:09, which is under the tempo time. About a minute into the interval between the tempos I was thinking,"I get the pacing thing! I'll never come out to fast again!". It's all good. I'm happy and not complaining. Today was rich.
Happy Running!

Eight-minute miles - wow!
I totally get what you mean about the repeats. The fast stuff rarely feels good when you're doing it - but the benefits are clearly there. They are so worth it. Keep it up!
