Over hill and...over another hll then...
Yes (such a great word) hills are in my future...my near future. It may sound crazy but bring 'em on. Three weeks ago coach said I wasn't going to do them but I either did something wrong or something right because now they're on the schedule for this week. "For the second hard workout, make it 1 hour of hills where you really attack the climbs, don't worry too much about heart rate, it can go up a bit, just run easy on the descents until it comes back down. Make sure and include a good w/u and c/d." Alrighty then!
Today was fun. I left my watch at home because I took the garmin and my humble HR monitor. When I got to the run and met Susan and Karrie, my garmin died. So I ran a 7mile negative split run by feel and checked the HR monitor. I also was trying to pick it up enough during the run to make it hard but still have a little bit left for the last 1.5 miles.
Average HR was 141 (I think) but never over 151-2. Is that good? I'm 53. If we use the 22o-age formula to figure my max heart rate, that's 167bpm, so 152 might be up there a bit, but I held on and finished well. I was glad it was done, too.
This Saturday Dianne and I are going to Springfield for G-son Bryan's birthday. While we're there we're going to run a 10k on Saturday morning. I'll have some pics and a report next week.
Happy Running!

Heart rates are guidelines to go by, but of course they vary from person to person. Who's to say the ultimate heart rate for mankind is 220bpm?
Good run. Have fun at the 10K!
That - in my humble opinion - is a great HR Massoman. Your fitness level is certainly improving based on those numbers! Keep it up.
Have a great time with the birthday and the 10k.
