its time to start

today's title is the title of a blue man group tune. it's also what my schedule says.
this post is pretty meager as this week i haven't run much. just two easy4 milers. i was listening to coach gail and recovering from the half last sunday. however, i have been lifting and gone to yoga a couple of times.

today's run marked an end of the recovery period with a 2hr 15min run with the last 30 min at 9min mile pace (right), or as close to it as i could get. once i picked it up, i ran for 21 min as fast as i could go, then went to a cool down jog. it was hard but during that 21min i found a groove where my breathing and footsteps where 1/1. what i mean is one step per inhale, one step per exhale. its was a hard place to stay in. one moment it would be ok, then it was, "oh s#&t, this is intense!". it reminded me of richard pryor's imitation of the first man on the sun.

my next goal race is the white rock half marathon in december, on the 9th i think.

my friend jim just starting running and is training for a 5 mile run on january first. go by and say hi.

happy running!

Nice long run to get you going again. I'm sure you'll be ready for your next half.

I end up with 1/2s on my fast runs (one breath, two steps) and that feels hard. Even thinking of doing 1/1s is hard. Gulp!

try,
1/2's are where i settle in and cruise, which is much slower than you typically run.

We are supposed to breath when we run? Now I know what my problem has been!
